Continuing North in the Suez Canal heading for a Black Day in history
It would appear as if this is a view of Egypt from the flight deck as the USS Tarawa as she continued her trek through the canal on the way to support the Marines in the "peacekeeping forces" in Beirut.

Looks as if this '46 is bringing back a load of "loot" for the squadron.  I'm sure it is all official material, and none that we wouldn't want our Mothers to see.  HMM165 (Composite) flew many missions of this type, as well as shuttling troops in and out of a very tense situation.  What's worse, they couldn't even shoot back!  Note the lack of guns in this photo.
