This photo page is dedicated to Col James Arthur "Big Jim" McGinn, HMM-165's Commanding Officer from 19 July 1975 to 20 July 1976. Col. McGinn passed away 21 July 2004. Be sure to read the poignant essay published in the 28 May 2009 edition of The Patriot Post regarding the futile effort of retired Marine aviator Mike McGinn to deliver a wreath to his father's grave on a Memorial Day. . 6'4" LtCol James (Big Jim) McGinn towers over the podium as he gives his address at his Change of Command. He was usually considered the most interesting speaker since he walked and talked, rather than hugging the podium.
