Here's a few more....taken aboard LCC-19. The crew/chiefs named their birds after their pilots: "Rocky & Bullwinkle."  The "Moose" is shown in the photo to the right (stand on the left w/ arms folded).  Note the name "Bullwinkle" painted on the huey's nose.
Members of HMM-165 assigned to the USS Blue Ridge.  Pilot "Rocky" Laws is seated in front of the other Marines.

From USS Blue Ridge off the Coast of RVN
Dave Routson sits behind his M-60 machine gun.  As crew/chief, Dave sat on the side were he could look out back to check the condition of the rear rotor ...  not a necessity on phrogs (CH-46s).

An ARVN (Army of the Republic of Viet nam) CH-47 that landed on our the Blue Ridge un-announced. The pilot had moved all of his worldly goods on board, including his motorbikes & mother-in-law.  The 165 mechanics took a close look and found they had NO OIL in the aft transmission!  After putting oil in the gearbox, they were sent on their way the next morning.
