A vigilant crew scans the ground for tell-tale puffs of smoke.  Shoulder fired SAMs (surface-to-air missiles) were a part of the enemy's arsenal at this time.

North Vietnam, 1973
On the approach to land at Hiaphong airport, this photo depicts the scenery out through the aft-end of a CH-46 helicopter.  At this time, HMM-165 was involved with mine sweeping activities.

In a compound just outside of Da Nang, the Republic of South Vietnam's Vice President has just landed.  HMM-165 was involved in escort activities in conjunction with this VIP's trip.
