Smoke rises (left of the M-60 barrel) where the LZ is being "prepped" as this helicopter starts its descent into Helicopter Valley.  This was not a good day.

This motley group walking along the flight line at Ky Ha in early September is (l. to r.) Dave Laubach, Al Rose and Rick Roth. Per normal, Roth had lost his head and Rose is carrying him on his back.

After missions in October 1966, Maj. "Lima" Payton, Maj. Perry and Capt. "Bobby" Byrd are in the "normal" pilot setting.  Opportunities to let off some steam were welcome and necessary!

I Corps, Republic of Vietnam, Fall 1966
Crew/Chief Richard Dick's YW-19 lays upside-down and shattered on this hill in Vietnam.  The bird was one of twenty-one HMM-165 helicopter that took part in a "strike" that day.  The copilot, John Fulton, was the only seriously injured Marine in the crew.  An unidentified crew member shifts through the wreck.
